Low Back Pain

Low back pain is one of the most common challenges people face — affecting nearly everyone at some point in their life. For many, it shows up suddenly after a lift or twist. For others, it builds slowly over months or years of stress, sitting, or repetitive strain.
At Hybrid Health, we help clients understand why their back hurts and what they can do to finally break the cycle of tension, inflammation, and compensation.

What Actually Causes Low Back Pain?
One of the most common contributors to low back pain is joint restriction — when one or more segments of the spine stop moving the way they’re designed to.

Your lower back is made of five vertebrae stacked like building blocks, each separated by a disc that allows smooth, fluid movement. When everything is functioning well, the spine behaves like a flexible spring — bending, rotating, and absorbing force with ease.

But when a joint becomes restricted, it’s like welding part of that spring together. The rest of the spine can still move, but now it’s compensating for the segment that isn’t doing its job.

How Joint Restrictions Develop
They can come from:
  • A sudden injury or awkward movement
  • Repetitive bending, twisting, or lifting
  • Long hours of sitting
  • Poor posture
  • Weak or overworked stabilizing muscles
  • Stress and tension
  • Being overweight
  • Whole‑body vibration (e.g., driving machinery or trucks)
Once a joint becomes restricted, a predictable cycle begins:
  1. Restriction
  2. Inflammation & swelling
  3. Muscle guarding
  4. More restriction
  5. Compensation in other areas
This is why low back pain often spreads into the hips, glutes, or thighs — the body is trying to pick up the slack.

Common Symptoms of Joint Restriction
  • Local tenderness or sharp pain
  • Stiffness or limited range of motion
  • Pain with bending, twisting, or sitting
  • Tightness in the hips or glutes
  • Pain that “trickles” into the thighs
  • Feeling like the back “locks up”

If you ever experience red‑flag symptoms like pain radiating below the knee, weakness, groin numbness, or bowel/bladder changes, you should seek immediate medical attention.

How Hybrid Health Treats Low Back Pain
We don’t crack backs.
We don’t needle.
We don’t guess.

We use evidence‑based, non‑invasive therapies that restore movement, reduce inflammation, and help your body heal the way it’s designed to.

Here’s how we approach low back pain:
Muscle Therapy (Multi-modality approach)
Our therapists use hands‑on techniques, such as localized vibration, trigger point therapy, etc., to:
  • Reduce muscle guarding
  • Break up tension
  • Improve circulation
  • Restore normal movement patterns
This is often the first step in calming the nervous system and reducing pain.

Radial Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave is one of the most effective tools for chronic or stubborn low back pain. It works by sending acoustic pulses into restricted tissues to:
  • Break up adhesions
  • Increase blood flow
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Stimulate healing
It’s especially helpful for:
  • Facet joint irritation
  • SI joint dysfunction
  • Chronic muscle tightness
  • Glute and hip compensations

Localized Cryotherapy
Cold therapy rapidly reduces inflammation and pain in irritated tissues. We use it to:
  • Calm flare‑ups
  • Reduce swelling
  • Improve mobility
  • Speed recovery between sessions
It’s a powerful tool for people who feel “inflamed,” “locked up,” or “stuck.”

Movement Re‑Education & Corrective Exercise
Once pain decreases, we help you rebuild the patterns that keep your spine healthy. This includes:
  • Core stability
  • Hip mobility
  • Glute activation
  • Breathing mechanics
  • Posture and lifting technique
This is where long‑term change happens.

The Hybrid Health Philosophy
Low back pain is common — but it’s not something you have to live with.

We believe in:
  • Active healing
  • Education that empowers you
  • Tools that actually work
  • A supportive environment where you feel cared for

Our goal is simple:
Get you out of pain and back into your life — stronger, more mobile, and more confident than before.
